[UKFSN Status] ADSL Speed Issues

Enta have informed me that there is a serious balancing problem with
sessions across their BT Central Pipes (these are the connections that
bring the ADSL connections over from BT's network).
Enta have 2 622Mb Central pipes - the biggest size available - which
should be sufficient to handle 64,000 active sessions - however it seems
that BT are pointing most sessions to just 1 of these meaning it gets
overloaded while there is spare capacity on the second one.
The result of this is that some users have significantly slower
connections than they normally would have. Others are not affected.
Since BT withdrew the session steering service recently Enta have no
control over this. If you find that this is affecting you please
disconnect your router completely for at least 15 minutes and reconnect.
Hopefully you will then be connected to the second pipe although this is
pot luck as BT allocate sessions.
Enta have a 3rd 622Mb pipe due to be delivered next month which will allow
capacity to be spread further easing this issue.
Note however that Enta are telling me that there is spare capacity and
that this should not be a problem.
Over the next few hours Enta will be disconnecting some sessions on the
overloaded pipe to try and force sessions over to the under used one. If
you are disconnected please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this
may cause you.
